Sec. Luistro at PWU Commencement rites

Bautista of the Commission on Higher Education, assisted by PWU President Dr. Francisco Benitez during the PWU’s 92nd Commencement Exercise held last April 11, 2015 at the PICC, Pasay City.

The Philippine Women’s University will hold its 92nd Commencement Exercises on the theme “Quality Service, Quality Education: PWU’s Legacy to the Nation”, with Secretary Bro. Armin A. Luistro as speaker on April 11, 2015 (Saturday), 8:00 am at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

The PWU President Dr. Jose Francisco Benitez will introduce Luistro who holds a doctorate degree in Educational Management and was president of De la Salle University from 2006 to 2010.

The Doctor of Laws, honoris causa will be conferred on Luistro by Commissioner Ma. Cynthia Rose B. Bautista of the Commission on Higher Education, to be assisted by Dr. Benitez, while the citation will be read by PWU Board Trustee Dr. Jose Conrado Benitez.

Sec. Luistro is being cited for having “undertaken the unenviable task of spearheading the government’s efforts to bring about long needed educational reform as embodied in RA 10533 known as the Enhanced Basic Education Act or the K to 12 Program.”

University Registrar Dr. Liwayway Dapito will present the close to 700 candidates for graduation to be led by Drew Barie Cajandab, magna cum laude (Communication Arts); Jose Michael Angelo de Dios, cum laude (Communication Arts); Nusrat Jahan, cum laude (Psychology); Anne Mariel Recio, cum laude (Foreign Service); Jake Wallace Galvez, honorable mention, (Foreign Service); Archeline Jade Tisado, honorable mention (Elementary Education) and Joyce Tiffany Reyes, cum laude (Fine Arts, major in painting).

The conferment of degrees and awarding of diplomas for the candidates of undergraduate and graduate degrees from Manila and Quezon City campuses will be presented by Pres. Benitez, assisted by Dr. Dapito and registrar Maureen Venus Jardio.

Board Chairperson Dr. Helena Z Benitez will award the medals to honor graduates, assisted by Board Trustee Conrado Benitez, II, while Lourdes Ilustre of the PWU Alumni Association will give the Pledge of Loyalty to Alma Mater before the 2015 graduates.

Master of ceremonies is AVP Suzie Benitez, while this year’s chair of commencement exercises committee is Dr. Dapito with Marivic Tirona as co-chair.

The Baccalaureate Mass and Investiture ceremonies will be on April 10, 3:00 pm at the Bayanihan Paseo, Taft campus, Manila. Dean Edna Dominguez is chair of the Committee, assisted by Mary Paz Reconquista.
