Nine new members of PWU Alumni Association’s Board of Directors were elected at the 85th annual Homecoming last February 20, 2016. Outgoing PWUAA President Vicky Amalingan Sales and Dolly del Valle (who headed the nominations and elections committee) announced the nine winners at the end of the raucous Homecoming held at Le Pavillon on Roxas Boulevard. They are (in alphabetical order):
Ysabel Benitez (a financial planner who was President of the SCO and Editor of the Jr. Philwo and graduated from JMD in 2005);
Maribel Carag Dario (a Bayanihan alumna who worked in the Press Office at Malacanang during the term of Pres. Fidel Ramos);
Patricia Porras de Jesus (former pres. of PWC of Davao Alumni Assoc. and currently Pres. of the Davao Realtors Foundation);
Malu Abella Lopez (a loyal alumna of PWC of Davao who is currently pres. of PWC of Davao Alumni Association);
Beth Bonnevie Mitchell (represents her HS ’66 jubilarian class. She retired to the Phils. in 2010 from the UK where she owned and operated a furniture store, a restaurant and an Asian supermarket);
Marisol Madella Tugade (an economist by training, she heads several companies involved in shipping, logistics, tourism and travel and is involved in various civic/charitable organizations);
Gigi Gamboa Virata (is Executive Director of JASMS, the basic educational department of PWU and currently serves on the management board of the Asian Media Information Center);
Lina Inigo Winebrenner (is a Bayanihan alumna who studied at PWC in Davao and PWU Manila. She currently runs an insurance company);
Nina Lim Yuson (co-founder of Museo Pambata and currently 1st VP of Girl Scouts of the Phils. She is also a UNESCO Commissioner for Education and serves on the board of several other civic organizations).
The incoming board will serve a three year term seeing PWU through to its 100th year Centennial Celebrations in 2019.
PWU, JASMS and PWC alumni came from all over the Philippines and all over the world for PWUAA’s 85th Homecoming on Feb. 20, 2016.
