PWU Nursing Alumni Meet for Centennial

PWU Nursing alumni met recently to plan their Biennial Homecoming which will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Philippine Women’s University in 2019.

Dr. Carrie Dumlao, who heads the Golden Jubilarian Nursing Class of 1969, welcomed representatives from various nursing alumni chapters in the U.S.A. and invited all PWU nursing alumni to get involved in the PWU centennial. Dr. Dumlao is a member of the Nursing board of the Philippine Professional Regulation Commission. She formerly served as the head nurse of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Ms. Zita Sumagaysay reported to the group that PWU’s Centennial Committee had approved PWU Nursing Alumni of the Philipines president Alice Lopeña’s proposal to invite Sr. Callista Roy, a world famous nursing theorist and author, to deliver the PWU Nursing School’s Centennial Lecture scheduled in February 2019. Mrs. Lyca Benitez Brown shared the PWU Centennial theme of “100 Reasons to be Proud” and invited alumni to email pwu100@pwu.edu.ph with suggestions for the year-long celebrations and their own reasons why they are proud of PWU.
