Charter Change and Federalism Forum at PWU

Posted: June 7, 2018

PWU will hold a forum on Charter Change and Federalism on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at the Concert Hall, PWU Taft campus.

This forum aims to provide a venue for the students of PWU and other interested parties to actively engage in a community discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of amending the 1987 Philippine Constitution and the proposed shift to a Federal form of government.

Alex Brilliantes, Professor at the National College of Public Administration and Governance at the University of the Philippines, where he served as Dean for two terms, and Dr. Ronald Mendoza, dean of the Ateneo School of Government, have been invited to lend their expertise on these topics, and to address any questions the students may have. The forum will follow a town hall format and will be moderated by Ms. Gang Badoy-Capati, founder of RockEd Philippines and recipient of both the Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) and The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service (TOWNS) awards in 2010. It is hoped that this discussion will raise community awareness, inspire critical analysis, and encourage PWU students to take an active role in building our nation’s future.

This will be the second PWU town hall meeting on charter change and federalism. Last March, a forum on the same topics was conducted for the PWU faculty and staff. DILG Asst. Secretary Jonathan Malaya and former SolGen Prof. Florin Hilbay were the main speakers for that event.
