PWU President Heads SMEC

The Philippine Women’s University President Dr. Francisco Benitez was recently elected as president of the South Manila Educational Consortium (SMEC), one of the longest running educational consortiums in Asia. SMEC which started in 1974, now counts 12 colleges and universities located along Taft Avenue and nearby, who collaborate to provide quality education and leadership in the higher education sector. Dr. Benitez, heads SMEC for school year 2018-2020, which is also a historic time for PWU (founded in 1919) as it enters into its Centennial anniversary.

SMEC Officers for 2018-2019 are:

  • VP External Programs and Linkaging: FR. MARCELO MANIMTIM, CM (ADAMSON UNIVERSITY)
  • VP Internal Programs: BRO. RAYMUNDO SUPLIDO, FSC (DLSU)
  • Corporate Secretary: ATTY. ROBERTO LAUREL (LPU)
  • Assistant Corporate Secretary: ATTY. JOSEPH ESTRADA
  • Treasurer: DR. JUNIFEN GAUUAN (PCU)
  • Executive Director: MA. VICTORIA DAYAO
