Dr. Priscilla Sagar, a Philippine Women’s University BS Nursing graduate was selected among the American Academy of Nursing 2019 Class of New Fellows and is set to be inducted together with other nurse leaders in the upcoming Annual 2019 Policy Conference entitled “Transforming Health, Driving Policy Conference: Our Social Responsibility To Health: Impact and Influence” to be held in Washington, D.C. The American Academy’s Fellows are recognized as Nursing’s most accomplished leaders in practice, education, management and research.
Dr. Sagar is currently a full time professor of Nursing at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York. She is the author of two books: Transcultural Nursing Theory and Models: Application in Nursing Education, Practice, and Administration and Transcultural Nursing Strategies, both published by Springer Publications.
In 2017, Dr. Sagar came back to PWU to give a lecture-workshop on Transcultural Nursing and talked about how to integrate TCN concepts in academic and staff development. She stressed the importance of understanding diverse cultural backgrounds when dealing with patients and observed that this is a skill that PWU nursing graduates can develop as part of their training.
The PWU Community takes pride in Dr. Sagar’s remarkable achievement, adding her to the list of “100 Reasons to Be Proud.”
