Alumni Foundation Elects New Board

The PWU Alumni Foundation, Inc. (PWUAFI) held its annual meeting on Saturday, July 28, 2019 and elected new officers for 2019-2022. Lourdes M. Fajardo was re-elected as President of the new board with Sylvia Lina (Vice President), Marie Bediones Lee (Secretary), Segevamor Javalera (Asst. Sec.), Evelyn Escudero (Treasurer), Patricia Orozco (Asst. Treas.) and Trustees Maria Ayuyao, Corazon Santillan, Alicia Lustre, Ruth Jarantilla and Thelma Go.

PWUAFI reported that the Centennial Fund donations have now reached PHP 6M. Among the PWU projects now underway are the modernization of the Food Lab (with College Class of ’57’s purchase of a Combi-Oven and donations in memory of Aurora Tulio Siapuatco and her sisters). New musical instruments for the JASMS Rondalla courtesy of HS Class’64 and JMD-HS’69 have also been ordered. Training manikins from BSN’78 and Lorna H. Garcia are now in use at the School of Nursing. Visitors to the campus will also notice the total renovation of the Adoration chapel in memory of the late Cathy Nazareno which will be completed in August.

Vicky A. Sales, PWU Board of Trustees chair, thanked the alumni for their support and encouraged other alumni batches and their families to participate in the centennial fund drive. She invited alumni to attend the culminating celebration of PWU’s Centennial year which will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Manila Hotel.

Many of you that I have spoken to have longingly talked about the “glory days” of PWU. Most of the faculty and personnel who have stayed on at PWU also lovingly recall those days. PWU was an educational leader in new fields of endeavor.
