The SFAD JCB Gallery will feature the Pinta Nueve Group in a Round-Table Discussion on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the SFAD JCB Gallery. Pinta Nueve is a group of art students who became active in the 70s, in search of meaning in Philippine Art.
Most of its members garnered major prizes in student art competitions during their creative sojourn at PWU.Coming from diverse artistic persuasions and backgrounds; they bonded together exploring innovative approaches in their artmaking — a process that has delineated the exploratory aesthetics and experimental character of the PWU Fine Arts.
The discussion will revolve around anecdotes on the group’s formation & direction, as well as individual narratives focusing on each member’s art practice. The forum will be preceded by a talk on the Maitum Jars by Renato Ong, one of the group’s founding members.
The reunion show of the group at the HZB Hall will run until December 19, 2019. Copies of their monograph are sold @ ₱1,000 each at the SFAD JCB Gallery.
