There’s a saying that goes, “The strongest bond of human sympathy outside the family relation should be one uniting working people of all nations and tongues and kindreds.” (Abraham Lincoln)

That saying came to life when members of The University of Washington and the Philippine Women’s University had a Community Engagement Activity with the residents of Barangay Park 7, Loyola Heights QC, a partner community of PWU’s University Community Outreach Program (UNICORP) on August 31, 2019.

The University of Washington students are on a work cum-study visit facilitated by the Philippine Women’s University as part of their Study Abroad program. The group is composed of Fil-Ams and other students of UW’s Ethnic Studies program. They helped with the repainting of a learning center, played, ate, and danced with 40 children and their parents. Part of the activity included a mini-lecture to the parents about nutrition education to promote healthy food preparation and the distribution of hygiene kits to the parents by PWU.
