2ND TRIMESTER SY 2020-2021

Office of the President Memo #023 SY 2020-2021 – October 27, 2020

Keeping in mind the health and safety of the PWU Community, the following guidelines shall continue to be observed for the 2nd Trimester SY 2020-2021:

Flexible Learning

The University shall continue with Online Learning as our mode of Flexible Learning for both lecture and laboratory courses for the Undergraduate and Graduate Programs.

2nd Trimester and Enrollment Schedule

  1. The trimestral break shall be from November 1 to 22, 2020.
  2. Online Enrollment for the 2nd Trimester begins November 3, 2020 and may be accessed via PWU Website
  3. The 2nd Trimester officially begins November 23, 2020 and will run up to March 6, 2021.
  4. Applications for admissions for transferee students are currently ongoing and are available online through PWU Website
  5. Similar to the 1st Trimester, the Entrance Examination Fee remains waived for incoming transferees who will enroll in our Undergraduate programs. These students shall also be allowed to take the examination anytime during their first year in the University as scheduled with the Guidance Counselling and Testing Office.

Reduced School Fees and Discount on Installment Charges

  1. With the continued implementation of Flexible Learning for the 2nd Trimester, and conscious of the financial impact of the pandemic on the families of our students, the University shall continue applying discounts on Miscellaneous and Other School Fees. Approximately Twenty-Five percent (25%) of Miscellaneous and Other School Fees will appear as tuition discount on the assessment portion in your student portal.
  2. Installment charges for the 2nd Trimester shall continue to be discounted at 50% of the original amount.

Academic Support Program and Scholarship

  1. Our Institute of Family Life and Children Studies together with the Guidance Counselling and Testing Offices continue to give psychosocial and counseling support to the PWU Community through The PWU Wellness Hub. Students are free to reach out for any reason to the counselor assigned to their respective program. Employees and other members of the community may call (0939) 9047251 from Mondays thru Fridays during office hours, or send an email to iflcs@pwu.edu.ph or mgdelossantos@pwu.edu.ph
  2. The University’s Medical Services and Diagnostic Center (MSDC) also continues to provide telemedicine services to the University community. Students and employees may call 8526-8421 local 154 or email msdc@pwu.edu.ph.
  3. The University continues to offer the #WeRiseAsOneScholarship for SY 2020-2021. This scholarship will be open to all incoming freshmen and transferee students, particularly those that have been economically affected by this pandemic. The scholarship shall provide a full tuition subsidy for students throughout their entire undergraduate stay at PWU1. Slots are available across all programs offered by the University on a first come, first served basis. Details of University Scholarship programs are available on PWU Scholarship webpage, or you may reach the Scholarship Office at 8526-8432 local 171 or at scholarship@pwu.edu.ph.

University Operations

  1. As the Government continues to maintain the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) protocol over Metro Manila, the University remains under Phase 2: Skeletal Workforce of our transition plan, where key employees necessary to provide student services, such as the Registrar’s office, Finance/Accounting, Administration, etc. are reporting on-campus.
  2. As such, while we still highly encourage enrollment and other student services to be done primarily online (www.pwu.edu.ph), in-campus student services shall be open subject to the strict health and safety protocols being implemented.
  3. Please note, individuals below 21 years of age shall still be prohibited from entering our campuses and must send their parent/guardian with an authorization letter and their valid ID. Moreover, we are implementing a strict temperature and health assessment checklist prior to entering the campus, and only a limited number of visitors shall be allowed to enter at any given time. Thus, we still highly encourage the use of our online portal for enrollment and payments.

Once again, I would like to thank the PWU community – faculty, employees, parents, students and alumni – for their continued patience and support. This has been a very challenging time for all of us, but the hard work, commitment, and resiliency of each member of the community are what have allowed us to stand firm on our commitment to deliver the PWU standard of education in this new normal.

Now, more than ever, we must remain vigilant and adhere to the health and safety protocols being implemented by the government, particularly in this time of reopening. Let us listen only and share information from reliable sources, and as much as possible, let us take care of our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.

May you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy.

Marco Alfredo M. Benitez
