It is in the top tier of the Philippine educational hierarchy with Autonomous Status conferred by the Commission on Higher Education in 2008. The University's core values are fostered through a curriculum centered on holistic character formation, the preservation of cultural and national heritage, family solidarity, ethical professionalism and service to the country.

Benitez family welcomes order to stop PWU foreclosure

The Benitez family welcomed the Manila court’s issuance of the Commencement Order that may pave the way for an approval of a rehabilitation plan for the Philippine Women’s University (PWU), saying the decision ensures the continued operations of the university and its schools.

The effect of the Order is to invalidate the auction of PWU properties which was won by STI Holdings (owned by Eusebio Tanco) when it bid uncontested after it filed for foreclosure of the PWU campuses in Taft Avenue and Indiana Street in Manila.

STI had also sought the foreclosure of the Jose Abad Santos Memorial School campus in EDSA Quezon City and a Benitez family property in Davao City.
