Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition (MSCN) is a first-of-its-kind offering in the Philippines and in Asia through Philippine Women’s University. It is a continuously expanding program partnering up with premier healthcare institutions in the country such as the St Luke’s Medical Center and Manila Doctor’s College.

The program focuses on the treatment and prevention of acute illness and chronic disease. It utilizes knowledge based on nutritional biochemistry, anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology to determine the metabolic abnormality and clinical manifestation of disease state. This program is designed to academically prepare clinical nutrition specialists in the hospital and non-hospital settings. Graduates provide comprehensive nutrition care to patients especially those with chronic degenerative diseases.

History

The Nutrition Department started in 1952. Because of the changing needs, concerns and challenges, the Nutrition Department was put under the Philippine Institute of Nutrition, Food Science and Technology (PINFST). In 2004, the Nutrition Department separated from PINFST to give it the opportunity to better respond to global demands and challenges.

The School of Nutrition is looking forward with a fresh approach to strenghtening its resources and capabilities with the goal of repositioning the school as a leading player just as it was like 60 years ago.
